About Pactolio

SEC Filing Data, Structured for Research

Pactolio is a research platform that transforms SEC disclosures into structured, searchable datasets covering institutional portfolios, ownership trends, and insider transactions. We aggregate and normalize publicly available SEC filings into a unified research database that maintains an unbroken link back to the primary source document.

Why Pactolio Exists

While SEC disclosures are completely public, they remain fragmented across tens of thousands of raw text and XML files on the EDGAR system. Pactolio was built to remove this friction — making institutional allocations easier to access, map, and track while maintaining an unbroken link back to the primary source document.

What Pactolio Covers

Institutional Portfolios & Ownership

Track current and historical Form 13F-HR holdings, position churn, sector exposure, and security-level concentration profiles across 130+ institutional managers. Evaluate any fund's full equity book, quarter-over-quarter changes, and peer overlap via the 13F Portfolios directory and Institutional Ownership pages.

Insider Activity Mapping

Monitor open-market purchases and sales via near-real-time Form 4 ingestion, organizing entity data by corporate officers, directors, and 10% owners. Only transaction codes P (open-market purchase) and S (open-market sale) are counted in the conviction signal — grants and option exercises are tracked separately.

Position Crowding & Peer Overlap

Pactolio aggregates the entire 13F reporting universe into a cross-quarter dataset to compute two crowd metrics per equity: the number of distinct institutional managers holding the security, and the median portfolio concentration weight across those holders. A separate per-fund peer overlap score measures the shared market value between two managers' reported equity books. Explore the Crowding Universe for current rankings.

Platform Guardrails

What We Prioritize

  • Direct SEC EDGAR sourcing
  • Entity-level normalization via CIK
  • Source-document traceability

What We Exclude

  • Analyst ratings & price targets
  • Sentiment scores & commentary
  • Investment advice or recommendations

How Pactolio Differs

Most 13F and Form 4 aggregators layer commentary, sentiment scores, or proprietary signals on top of the underlying filings. Pactolio does not. The platform is intentionally structured as a clean tier between the filing and the analyst, so that every figure shown on a page is reproducible from the source filing without methodological reinterpretation.

Where we add value is in normalization and cross-reference: consistent issuer naming via CIK reconciliation, position-level history across 10+ years of filings, peer-overlap computation, and entity-level structured data so that downstream consumers — human or AI — can resolve every entity to its canonical SEC EDGAR record. A full description of our ingestion logic and metric definitions is in the Methodology.

Not Investment Advice

Pactolio is a data aggregation and research platform; it is not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer, or fiduciary. Nothing on the platform constitutes a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security. Quarter-over-quarter changes in 13F positions reflect a combination of active trading and price movement and should not be read as explicit buy or sell signals. Insider transaction signals are descriptive of past-filed activity and not forward-looking. Users assume full responsibility for their investment decisions and should conduct independent due diligence.
